Meet the Principal

Michelle Tapia has been the Principal of the Barrington Early Learning Center since the 2020-21 school year. She is extremely passionate about welcoming our youngest learners to Barrington 220 and partnering with families. 

Before joining the ELC team, Ms. Michelle worked as the Assistant Principal and Summer School Principal at Sunny Hill Elementary School in the Barrington 220 School District. Prior to working in Barrington 220, Ms. Michelle worked in Palatine District 15 as an Assistant Principal, School Psychologist, and Special Education Case Manager. Before moving back to Illinois in 2010, she worked as a School Psychologist and Early Childhood Teacher in Iowa.

Ms. Michelle received her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master's of Education and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from National Louis University, and a Master's of Education in School Administration & Leadership from Concordia University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership through Concordia University.
